The Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research (C-NES) is proud to announce that its Managing Trustee, Sanjoy Hazarika, has been appointed as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee for Climate-Induced Migration. This committee, dedicated to addressing the micro and macro perspectives of climate-induced migration in India within the framework of a just transition, is a collaborative effort co-led by the Population Council (PC) and the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS).
Sanjoy Hazarika, a prominent expert on issues pertaining to the Northeast region of India, will bring invaluable insights to the committee. The project’s primary focus is to examine the complex interplay of climate change, economic-driven migration, and environmental factors leading to population displacement.
Hazarika joins a distinguished group of senior academics from various institutions across India, all of whom have long been engaged in the study of climate change and its socio-economic consequences. Together, this committee aspires to provide innovative solutions to the challenges posed by climate-induced migration in India.
