Visit of Prof. Imtiaz Ahmed of Bangladesh to Guwahati and Shillong

Prof. Ahmed, one of Bangladesh?s leading political scientists and scholars, traveled on Guwahati and Shillong to deliver two lectures on ?Bangladesh and the North-East ? problems and opportunities: a view from Dhaka? on September 6 and 8, 2004 respectively.

Prof. Ahmed, a former head of the Dept. of International Affairs, of Dhaka University spoke of the need for better understanding of each other, of scholar and student exchanges as well as of the need to improve connectivity and appreciate the concerns of the other.

His lecture in Guwahati was supported by the Rashtriya Grameen Vikas Nidhi, which collaborates with C-NES, while Rotary Club in Shillong sponsored his visit to the Meghalaya capital. He also addressed a press conference at the Guwahati press club and his views and lectures were extensively published across the two states.
