BCRS member of CRA
C-NES’ Brahmaputra Community Radio Station is now a member of the CRA (Community Radio Association). CRA was formed in 2011 in Delhi as an association, wherein people working on the ground, can represent their communities and bring the voices of the voiceless to the fore.
It has been organizing events/workshops and has been sharing the experiences of its members across the globe. Some of its members have been representing the movement in international forums and reiterating the power of the Community Radio. Since CRA is a member based organisation, all its members have been running community radio stations, in diverse regions and dialects, together they bring to the table a mine of resources and experience. The strength of CRA is its network of experienced radio practitioners, who manifest the mandate of the Community Radio. This organisation is a true reflection of India’s diversity, the multitude of languages and dialects, the varied topography and history. It is the only network in this sector, which is totally democratic and allows space for dissent, as there is nothing homogeneous about any community.
Follows the message from C-NES Managing Trustee Prof Sanjoy Hazarika on the occasion:
“Delighted to be a CRA member and we believe that the Brahmaputra CommunityRadio Station (BCRS), located on the banks of the mighty river in Assam, will develop creative, enjoyable, challenging and reflective work which will have resonance not just among the people who listen to it but among other CRA members”.
